Message on Lent
As we are in the season of Lent, one of the beautiful and holiest seasons in the life of the church,

I am reminded that it is a time for ‘change’ and it is a call to participate in the three fold activities of the church ‘fasting (Mt 6:16-18) almsgiving (Mt:6:2-4) and prayer (Mt 6:5-6)
Lent is a time for us to reflect with ardent faith to change ourselves to become one with Jesus so that we can give ourselves to receive life from Christ. The mission of Christ is to give life to us. He became the obedient son unto his death. Jesus was unwavering in his mission. When we change those habits from our lives which prevent us from absorbing the image of Christ into our lives, we become Christ like. In this regard our parents attend Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion regularly to receive grace and peace so that the life of Christ may enkindle in them. Attending Holy Mass is a way of communicating and communion with Christ.

The tradition of the Church teaches us that lent is a time to nurture good habits, which will draw us closer to God. Our parents nurtured their lives with spiritual practices which transformed their lives and that transformation gave them peace and happiness. Today we are living in a busy society with busy schedules and excuses are made of not attending the Holy Mass. Lent is a time of renewal and therefore we must attend Holy Mass and receive Holy Communion at least once in a week. When we are participating in Holy Mass, we are part of God’s transforming action.
I want to particularly invite you at this season of lent to pray for our Church in London. We have established around forty Holy Mass centers within the region of London, supported by the Bishops in London. We must pray for the Bishops and priests in London. Their work may come to realize the vision of Jesus so that we may have peace and happiness. Encourage one another to fulfill our mission of having peace and happiness, so that we become the children of God.
May Our Blessed Virgin Mother help us to overcome our day to day struggles and problems.
